A Bumpy Night

This is the first design in a series I intend to do based around cocktails. I did the Gibson one first, because it has been my chosen drink for a while now. I run into problems a lot in the city with bartenders not knowing how to make it, as I guess it’s somewhat old school and not currently popular. So I had the idea that if I had the drink recipe and picture on a shirt, I just have to point, and they can make me one. Plus, I can even order one when I can’t talk anymore. I just have to point.
Gibson:
6 parts Gin
1 part Dry Vermouth
Shake over ice
Strain into a cold martini glass
Garnish with a pearl onion
…
Then drink it!
The title of the drawing, in case you are curious, comes from All About Eve where Bette Davis (playing Margo Channing) is drinking them at a cocktail party. I forget the precise circumstances, but she’s pretty cheesed off and her friend asks if she’s going to keep acting up. She snags the onion, drains the glass, and utters a now famous quote: “Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy night.”

In addition to most of Atlanta not knowing what a Gibson is, most Atlanta bars don’t have the cocktail onions either. Philistines.
